Susan Long, PhD – Clerk for North Shore InnoVentures and head of mentorship.  Sue is a business executive with broad experience across the life sciences and medical device industries.  Most recently, she was Vice President Business Development at Genzyme Corporation, a global biotechnology company.  In this role, she lead strategy and business development transactions for Genzyme’s Biosurgery Division.  Sue joined Genzyme initially as a research scientist during the company’s start up days and applied her strong scientific skills in various leadership roles as the company grew and diversified.  Sue is keenly interested in science education and serves as an advisor to young scientists through Boston based, Biomedical Sciences Career Program (BSCP).  She has a PhD in microbiology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
